Productive Saturday...

At least I'd like to think so. Dropped the Sube off at the mechanics this morning to fix the eight million problems it had (broken driver's side lock, broken driver's side seat, leaking left rear tire, broken defroster heating element on the back window, check engine light, needed a tune-up...especially since the engine was misfiring, a cooing fan and belt needed to be replaced, and the anti-lock brake system light was on. Oh, and I figured a deluxe oil change while we were at it). After dropping the car off, I walked up to campus to take my first astronomy test of the semester. Aced it, by the way. Then my very wonderful, amazing, beautiful, smart, and talented sister-in-law (who is totally on a hot date right now) picked me up from campus and we picked up some lunch for us and the boys.

After that, I finally made good on my Christmas present to Savannah...an oil change and new wiper blades for her car. Then she dropped me back off while I waited for the Sube to be finished. I really love the place I take it to...Ray's Campus American Car Care...or something like that. They are so nice and totally professional and definitely don't rip you off. Having a dad as an amazing mechanic is handy when you don't live 2,000 miles away from him, but having a dad pass his auto-knowledge onto you is almost as good. So I know when I'm getting taken to the cleaners when it comes to vehicle maintenance. And the guys over at Ray's are wonderful and 100% honest. All that crap we had done only ended up costing us $280. And after driving it back home, I decided it was well-worth it!!!!

So, to top off my productive day while Zac is at the gym, I'm vowing to do all of the dishes in the sink. Shouldn't be more than 20 minutes. Wish me luck!

Also...

I put in the creepy floating baby countdown ticker. I'm not gonna lie, that ticker kind of creeps me out. But I couldn't really find a better one. Anyone know of any I should add instead?

And another thing: I keep smelling anti-freeze. Zac swears he has no idea what I'm talking about, but I'm convinced there is something in our living room that smells like it. That doesn't mean I'm having a stroke or anything, does it?

Sunday Snapshot (or two)...

Again, thanks to Liz because our camera decided to stop working again. Oh and the second one I stole from Matt and Erin...it's Logan in his 3-month-old cousin Ella's car seat, sucking on her binky. And yes, he did that on his own. Silly boy.

Like I Said...

I'm a total blogging looser. I've fallen into this pit of despair where I don't have the time, energy, or ambition to blog. Apologies all around. So, even though it's painful for me to write, here's the last week-ish in a nutshell: (disclaimer, this is really long with no pictures. sorry.)

Friday 1/9: Took Logan to the Dr's for a terrible cough. The doctor (who is not his regular pediatrician, but someone who simply had an opening) assured me that nothing was wrong and it was just a cough. I also was concerned about Logan developing an ear infection right before our trip to New York, but the doctor again assured me he looked fine and caused him no reason for concern. The only thing the doctor could do is put him on a course of antibiotics as a precaution, but he didn't feel it was necessary. So going against my better judgment, I listened to the doctor.

Sunday 1/11: My birthday. Wheee!

Wednesday 1/14: 2nd baby appointment with my new OBGYN. Who is due with her second baby today. How crazy is that? And she's only taking 3 weeks off. I love her, but I think she's nuts. Our baby is doing very well so far...heart rate was 160. Which, according to old wives tales, means this one is a girl. Time will tell.

Thursday 1/15: Flew to NY to see the family we missed over Christmas. Flight left at 7:00 am. We woke up at 7:00 am. Because I suck at life and set the alarm for 4:00 pm instead of 4:00 am. But we made it to the airport in time to get a stand-by flight that ended up giving Logan his own seat all the way to NY, so in reality, it worked out nicely. But I'm still kicking myself for being so dumb.

Monday 1/19: Logan started pulling on his right ear and his cough, which had been present for almost two weeks, sounded worse than ever before. My mother-in-law checked his ears with her nifty odoscope and said his right ear looked red. Joy.

Tuesday 1/20: Left New York after having a great time with the family and friends we got a chance to see. Originally had a three hour layover in Chicago that ended up being a 5 and a half hour layover. That's not even the worst part. About two hours in, I noticed Logan started to feel warm. Then about three hours in, Zac said Logan was really hot. Well, being the good parent that I am, I had packed the children's Motrin and brought it to New York "just in case." And being the conscientious and obedient traveler that I am, packed it in our checked luggage. Fortunately, the "Hudson News" stand carried children's Motrin. Unfortunately, it was $8.00. But we doped up the boy and he slept for half the flight. The other half of the flight, however, he spent whimpering and wanting to be held while we wiped him down with cold baby wipes. Even with a fever, he avoids screaming and is well-mannered on the plane! When we finally made it home, we gave him more Motrin and took his temperature: 103.1 under the arm. Sad day.

Wednesday 1/21: Logan woke up at 6:30 whimpering, still with a 103 degree temperature. I gave him Tylenol and put him back to bed until he woke up at 9:30. Naturally, I skipped class. Fever was still about 101 and I called the doctor's. They got him in at 12:20. Zac asked if he should go and something told me he should, so we all went over together. The nurse weighed Logan (almost 24 lbs) and took his temp which climbed back up to 103. When the doctor came in (again, not his normal pediatrician, but probably the most precious woman I have ever met in my entire life) she asked some questions, looked at his ears, gave him some more Motrin to bring down his fever, and listened to his lungs. Then broke the news: a double ear infection and "crackling" in his lungs. She suspected pneumonia and sent us for a chest x-ray. So since I'm all pregnant, I couldn't go in and hold my boy while they did the x-ray: enter daddy. I knew there was a reason I dragged Zac along. The x-rays confirmed fluid on Logan's diaphragm and cloudiness in his little lungs. So back in the exam room, the doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics for the next 10 days and told us she would follow up in the morning to see if Logan should be hospitalized or if he could just stay home. The rest of the day Logan spent on the couch with either me, Zac, or Aunt Savannah (who stopped by and made him happy) cuddling him while he slept or whimpered. It was heart-breaking.

Thursday 1/22: Logan woke up with no fever and asked for juice, which was promising as he didn't want to drink anything all Wednesday. Then, while lying on the couch waiting for his sippy cup, he sat up and started dancing along with the "Imagination Movers" on the Disney Channel. My little boy bounced back! The doctor called as promised and said, though she wants to see him Monday (or if anything changes) that he seems fine to stay home. YAY!

So that's what we've been up to. All sorts of craziness. And just reading it is making me exhausted. So please keep that little boy in your prayers so he continues to get better. Oh and before I forget, I felt the baby move for the first time on the flight between Buffalo and Chicago. And s/he has been moving A TON today, too! It was a good day all around :-) Hopefully pictures to come soon!!!

Oops...

So I haven't posted in a while. A long while. I'm turning into one of those people I hate. But we're still settling into the new place and trying to adjust to the swing of things with the new (AND LAST!!!!!!!!!) semester of school. So give me a break. Love you all :-)
