I Love This Kid...

So while Zac and I celebrated our 6-year-date-iversary (Skyroom for lunch and a movie), Logan went to his Aunt Liz's. Last time he was there, he managed to lock himself in her bedroom and she and her roommate had to break in through a window to rescue him. This time, he managed to get himself in trouble again...and you can read all about it here.

He never fails to amaze...

Bree Biesinger Despain Rocks My World...

Through a friend of a friend, I have yet another favorite author. And not only is she amazing in the literary world, she is also pretty fan-freaking-tastic in the blogging/giveaway world, too. So in order to bump up my entries for her latest contest (which you can enter here) I am promoting her site, too.

I highly recommend you enter the contest for a chance to win "The Chosen One." My creative writing teacher from a few semesters back wrote it...and it's amazing. So amazing that it will blow your mind. While breaking your heart. And still leaving you with a sense of hope. And if you don't win it, I'll lend you my copy. Or better yet, buy a copy for yourself. Or, if I win the grand prize, then I'll send you one of the copies.

So when you go to her site to enter, make sure you leave a comment saying I sent you, so I get more entries. And again, if I win, I promise to send you the autographed copy of "The Chosen One." Cause I already have one.

Random, scatter-brained, 1:00 am thought over.

"Oh It's Windy..."

My good friend Rachel Sheehan had this home video if her at about three years old and she was outside playing on her swing set. She's just doing normal childhood stuff and then this gust of wind blew her way and she turned and yelled "Oh it's windy!" The memory of that video has always made me laugh.

And boy was it windy here today. Well, sporadically, but ut was.

It hit 91 today and was really freaking hot. But around 4:00 when Zac went off to work, Logan and I walked him out to the car to say bye. It had cooled off significantly, with clouds on the western horizon, so we decided to stay outside and play for a while. Logan's friend, Lydia, also came out to join us. They played on Savannah's exercise trampoline, threw some pine cones around, and were riding up and down the sidewalk on some of Logan's push toys. While they were playing, I decided to call my mom and tell her I got my diploma in the mail today. (Side note: I GOT MY DIPLOMA IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!) So while I was talking to her, the kids wandered down to the end of the building and were playing under some willow and pine trees. I could still see them, so I wasn't concerned.

Until the wind picked up.

This huge gust of wind blew by and literally knocked Logan off his feet. I started walking over to make sure he was ok while he stood up. Then another huge gust came by and not only knocked him back down, but flipped him over! The same gust literally picked little 3-year-old Lydia up off the ground while on Logan's fire truck, too. So I said something along the lines of "Holy crap Mom, I'll call you back," hung up, and ran over to grab the kids. When I got to them, I just grabbed them and held on tight. Without the building there to block the wind, it was INSANE!!!!! Then I saw my neighbor run out of the house looking all frantic and searching for her daughter. I yelled to her and she ran over and was almost knocked over by the wind herself. So the two of us managed to get the kids inside, but not without being pelted by pine cones and small tree branches first. Thankfully, no injuries to report. Just traumatized kids.

Well, turns out (according to the news) it was officially a "dry microburst" that hit us at about 70 miles per hour. There was one reported up north of us in Centerville, too.

And the funny thing? We never got any rain.

Sunday Snapshots...

The ones of Logan are stolen from Liz. 'Cause she's amazing. The one of me is at 30 weeks. This silly little girl has been lying sideways (or "transverse" if you want to be all technical about it) for the last month or so. My doctor said she wouldn't worry about trying to turn her until I was at least 34 weeks and that she would probably end up flipping on her own.

And last night she did.

I first started feeling VERY pregnant yesterday. Like my stomach was sticking out super far (as opposed to the picture, where I just felt wide). Then I noticed I was using the restroom about every hour, I was having the worst heartburn of my life, and I could no longer feel a head on one side of my uterus and a bum on the other. I'm all squishy on the sides now! So hurray for that. Yes, it means I may be a bit more uncomfortable in bladder and heartburn terms, but I can deal with that if my little girl will cooperate with my attempt at "natural" childbirth...which wouldn't be happening if I had to have a c-section!

Where To Begin...

So so so much to catch up on. First, WE GRADUATED!!!!! Second, my mom, my grandma, and my mother-in-law all made it out for graduation. It was a ton of fun having them here...it was my mom and my grandma's first time out to Utah. I think they had fun.

While they were here, I made sure to take them to all of the must-see places (well, as much as I could do in 4 days). We did a campus tour, hit the bookstore, L&T in the Cougareat, Cafe Rio, Tucanos, the Museum of Art, Ikea, Temple Square (and the Family History Center), SubZero, and had planned on going to Arches National Park down in Moab, but didn't make it. We were too worn out!

And then, if you can remember back to a post in December, I got tickets to go see "Wicked" in Salt Lake. So I left my mom and grandma home with Zac and Logan and went to see it with my very best friend in the whole world. Dani and James flew up from San Antonio for a few days just so she could go see "Wicked" with me!!!! Well, and to see her family, but whatever. So the show was AMAZING. We had seats near the back on the aisle, and we were even fist in the restrooms at intermission. But that's what you get when you put two pregnant girls together :-) She took all the pictures on her camera, so I'll have to post those when I steal them off of Facebook. (Hint: Dani, upload those pictures!!!)

So after a whirlwind week of family, friends, and graduation, everyone left on Tuesday the 28th. And my life came to a sudden screeching halt. I'm no longer taking classes, doing homework, taking tests, or writing papers. I don't have a calling in church (NOT complaining, by the way). I don't have a demanding child (again, NOT complaining). And I only have the one, for now. So I'm feeling a little lost. I joined a book club, a walking group, and a writing group, all in hopes of vamping up the social void graduating has left me with, but I still feel a little out of it knowing I'm a college graduate with no professional prospects.

(Well, there was that submission I made to an agency for my novel, but I'm almost praying for a rejection letter. I told them it was a complete 90,000 word novel. It's not. It's only about half done at 40,000 words. But I had to do it for my class.)

So I guess that sums up what's been happening the last month. Currently, we're waiting to hear back from a few studios for an internship for Zac. He didn't get one with Pixar (But that wasn't a huge surprise. They only accepted one intern from BYU), but we're still waiting on BlueSky Studios in New York and Avalanche here in Salt Lake. And if he doesn't get either of those, he will just complete his internship credits at BYU (which he is currently doing to build his portfolio anyways). So other than waiting for an internship...or even a JOB!...we're just waiting on the baby. Who currently prefers to lie sideways in my uterus rather than up-side-down like normal children. Just hope she changes her mind in the next 4-6 weeks!

A smattering of pictures to come...

Sunday Snapshot...

Sorry. I've been on blogging hiatus. And now it feels like too much to catch up on. But I'll do it. I promise.
